What I think about Donuts' bold 80% renewal forecast @donutsinc #newtlds

I’d applaud Mr. Stahura for acknowledging that domainers “act as an unpaid sales force by selling domain names”. Good. During the past year, while courting mainstream opinion, some registries went out of their way to distance themselves from domain resellers — sometimes in contemptuous fashion, saying that they had priced their products higher in order to exclude parasitic resellers. Months ago, I had to go out of my way to emphasize that “registries could consider domainers as an outsourced sales department. In fact, domainers are generally salesmen who pay the registries up-front in order to publicize their products for sale.” So it’s heartening to see a registry giving domainers credit rather than simultaneously marketing to them and repudiating them.
