GrowSmartBusiness: Green No Longer a Growth Market, Study Says #li

Just 11 percent of consumers surveyed said they seek information on green companies and products. When they do look for information, the majority (more than 50 percent) turn to product packaging. The next most important source of information is word-of-mouth. Consumers are confused about existing information on green companies. Fifty-one percent said they would like to see a “greenness” rating for products. Seventy-four percent of dark green consumers and 48 percent of light green consumers would be very likely to use a rating system to make green buying decisions. What kind of information do consumers find most reliable? They were most likely to be convinced by quantitative information that clearly communicates how a product or service affects the environment.
